First Voice Post, meme
VoicePost

(no transcription available)

So, the voice post finally showed up about two hours after I called it in. Here's the text of the meme, as I mentioned in my previous entry:

Voice posts are fun, right? You get to hear funny accents if your friends are from far, far away. All we really want is to hear your voice, we don't care what you're saying. So here's a list of typical meme questions that would otherwise be boring, but when communicated aloud - well, it's entertaining. Answer these questions in your post, and encourage others with voice-posting abilities to do the same.

1) What's your name?
2) How old are you?
3) Where are you from? Are you living there right now?
4) Is it cold where you are?
5) What's the time?
6) What are you wearing?
7) What was the last thing you listened to?
8) What was the last thing you ate?
9) What was the last thing you watched on tv?
10) What's your favorite tv show? Why?
11) Quick! Find a book, or something with text on it! Flip to a random page and read some of it! GO!
12) What was the last movie you saw? How was it?
13) Do YOU think you have an accent? Talk about that.

Kristen Bell is awesome.

Nice!

You do have an accent, its called 'American' :p

LOL. I didn't even think of it that way, but I guess you're right.

Yeah, BtVS and VM have probably been the two shows whose fandoms have sucked me in the hardest, followed closely by Firefly.

Even though I called and talked to you briefly Saturday night to give you a hard time about the *cough*FSU disaster*cough*, hearing your voice just lighted up my Monday morning. As it always does whenever I hear it, unless I'm really upset in which case it still boosts me at least a bit, but anyway - you must do more. Love it. *smooches*

You have no type of accent next to me, you also have a very nice and strong voice. After hearing myself on messages and stuff it's safe to say you will NEVER get a voice post out of me because honestly I can't see how anyone can stand to listen to me talk at all. It's a very marvel to me that you love me the way you do with most of our relationship being via the telephone. I sound like a 14 yr. old hayseed on helium. *vomits*

And how sad it is that BEFORE you even described what you were wearing I saw the Dr. Phillips t-shirt on your back? Pretty freakin' scary if you ask me.

No more shall be said of the Saturday night travesty. I was fucking ASHAMED. Because I know we're not that bad. Our offense just decided to stop playing in the red zone, moving the ball down field okay, then settling for field goals instead of TDs. And that combined with out worst defensive effort of the year, making Tebow look even more super-human. Fuck him and his broken hand (fractured in the 3rd quarter - that he kept playing is almost proof he's on 'roids of some kind). I was LIVID.

you must do more. Love it. *smooches*

If I find something worthy of actually speaking about, I'll consider voice-posting in the future. It just took forever to show up after I called it in - over 2 hours.

Glad to hear it. I don't pick up an accent in myself, either, but others may, depending on where they're from, too.

Hyperbole, thy name is Cin. You are being too hard on yourself. Sure, you have a southern accent, but your voice matches who you are, IMO (and it's not a 14 yr-old hayseed on helium - but thanks for the description - LMAO!). I think when you get excited, your accent gets stronger, but your more calm, insightful discussion voice sounds fine. It shouldn't stop you from voice posting if you wanted to.

And how sad it is that BEFORE you even described what you were wearing I saw the Dr. Phillips t-shirt on your back? Pretty freakin' scary if you ask me.

Because I'm a creature of habit? And the fact that I've worn it at some point over the last three years you've visited. It is really gettin' raggedy now - it will prob. survive your fourth trip, but perhaps not a fifth. I'll need to cut the sleeves off something else soon. More comfortable that way.

HARK! SHE LIVES!!

Me and you are going to be in for a loooong talk missy! You've had me worried as shit. *scowls* Your gmail better be in the pooper and that's why I havent heard from you even after my multiple attempts to contact you. *grumbles*

And since I am on Jeff's Livejournal growling at Cindy, I will duly comment on the voicepost:

Gotta love my Jeffy. And you will also never hear me on one of these as my newyorican accent may scare most folks away. Did you know that yo is not a word? As in "Yo, get your ass over here." Pshaw.

Kristen is made of awesome.

Jeff: VM - car wash *kiss*j_mac179 on November 27th, 2007 05:22 pm (UTC)
Well, I know "yo" works its way into my vocabulary. So it's a word to me. \o/

And honestly, Flo, your Newyorican accent isn't that strong to be scary (to me, anyway) - and besides, hearing how different we all sound is kinda the point of the voice-post meme.

Weren't you gonna be archiving your fics on your own LJ, too? I know real world can be a bitch and all, but your LJ neglect is bordering on cruel. ;P

Plus, I need more of your new writing - pronto. Hop to it, woman!

Believe it or not I have the next part of "Guidance" on my laptop at home collecting dust and waiting to be posted. =( I just havent had the time to transfer it from there to here. I sucketh the big one I know. I will hop to it when I get my ass home. My goal is to start posting up all the chapters of "Claws" and then start on the Roswell short fics and then work my way to the bigger ones. *headdesk* It's times like this that I realize I've written alot of this stuff without realizing it and I have tons of unfinished stuff that I've never posted floating around on my harddrive. Bad Fic-author! *Spanks Self*

Nah, you sound like you don't have an accent. But whereas I'm from Boston, you'd probably think I have an accent.

I LOVE Buffy and VM. Miss both of them (more Buffy tho'. I have a think for slayers and vamps and Xander! and Oz, and straight Willow, she was cute then. Oh, darn forgot Cordelia, before they fricken' killed her off because she had a baby. Um, yeah, I digress)

Anyway, 28? that only makes me WAY older:(

Oh one more thing...
What about Carnivale? did you watch that? That was some awesomeness there too. But then it got cancelled:( I was sad.

I want Buffy back. Yeah, I'm a spaz;)

Laura

(so you really like KB, eh? My husband just may have to fight you for her:))

Re: Oh one more thing...
I never saw Carnivale, but heard good things. It's on my Blockbuster online queue, to eventually be caught up with.

Don't know if you've ever picked up a comic, but the current monthly Dark Horse publication of Buffy is the official Season 8, much of which is being written by Joss, and all of it is overseen - "produced" - with his approval. I've posted more about it elsewhere here on my LJ, but it picks up where ep. 7.22 "Chosen" left off, and so far it's been very well done.

Even if you don't want the hassle of monthly comic purchases or a subscription, I believe every five issues will be bound in trade paperback-style graphic novels. The first collection - "The Long Way Home" - is already out, and includes issues 1-5.

And "really like" is a woeful understatement when it comes to me and KBell. "Totally in love with and devoted to" is more like it. Your husband would definitely have a fight on his hands for her, no doubt. LOL. Just ask Cindy - she knows of my obsess--er, adoration.

Re: Oh one more thing...
I "fuckin" downloaded the damn season 8. How could I not??? I haven't read all of them yet, but I still miss my buffy!!!!! (I have to send you my friend's "Lizzy, the Vampire Slayer" where Lizzie Bennett from Pride and Prejudice is Buffy and Darcy is Giles! You'll freakin' love it. (um, yeah, Lala is a vampire. That was for me!)

Oooh - you piqued me here. Xander is just about my favorite TV character ever, and easily my favorite BtVS character. And the high school ensemble of the cast makes me treasure S2 and S3 as some of the very best hours of television ever made, anywhere. The show may remain my all-time favorite forever.

VM just never got a fair shake from the Nielsen-obsessed network TV environment. Rob Thomas had a fight on his hands from week to week for the entire run of the series, just to keep it going while remaining more or less true to his original teen-noir concept. It's a testament to its quality that it lasted as long as it did, ratings-challenged though it always was. It filled the pop-culture savvy, whip-smart dialogue void left after Buffy was gone. And again, the ensemble made the show a classic. Veronica will probably remain my all-time #2 or #3, depending on how Lost manages to end in a few seasons. It's my current favorite still on the air.

And I guess it's just taking some adjusting for me, that the 3-0 is right around the corner. I just got used to being in my mid-20's, and they're gone.

I'm sure your Bean-town accent is wicked cool... wow, what a sterotypically cliche thing to say. Sorry. ;)
Laura McCarthylalam on November 28th, 2007 03:35 am (UTC)
Season 2 of Buffy was THE BEST SEASON EVER (OR EVAH, as I'm from Boston).

Joss created a masterpiece with that season and you can't get any better than that. Season 3 was a tough follow up. Grant it, Faith and Wesley showed, but remember how hateful Wes was? It wasn't until he showed up on Angel after they killed off Doyle did we really appreciate him.

Faith, Eliza Dushku. I won't tell you how her mom was my Poli Sci professor at Suffolk University and I met her when she was about 12 (she was currently making True Lies with that stupid Governor of California at the time); and how cute she was back then.

Just remember to nevah pahk thaht cahr in harvahd yahd.:)

Honestly, I don't think I have an accent. I sound normal compared to those southerners:)

"Normal" is relative, anyway - I decided that long ago.

And I'll admit "y'all" and "ain't" still work into my slang once in a while, and when made right, grits are food of the gods - so my regional tendencies come through that way, I suppose - lack of accent notwithstanding.
