Heroes: 2.08 - "Four Months Ago"
Just getting on here super-quick because, for me, this was one of the best episodes of the entire series so far - for obvious reasons (Kristen is haaaaaht!) - and for the overall quality of actual character movement and story, for everyone involved. This one easily sits up there with my previous favorite of the series, "Company Man" from season one.

And really, for me to get online right after the episode ends is kind of a big deal, because this show runs so hot and cold with me.  [info]_cinjudes_and [info]schrutefanknow that I've continually questioned the 'potential versus execution' with this show, and tonight was one of those episodes that actually came through on the promise of thrilling storytelling the show can manage.  It's the woeful consistency that always makes me question why it's such a cult favorite. I don't xpect much anymore in the way of great development, dialogue, and continuity (like I do with Lost), so I  guess when Heroes manages to once in a while exceed those lowered expectations by leaps and bounds, it really stands out. This is short, but I'll stil cut it to avoid being spoilery.

All in all, good stuff.  And kudos to the wardrobe/costume department responsible for Elle's outfits.  Not too trashy, but revealing and *ahem* supportive in all the right places.  Brav-fucking-O!

Kristen Bell is awesome.

Yet more Kristen Bell news... sorry, but it's pretty big - I couldn't resist.

It seems like now we know why Kristen was kinda coy in turning down a possibly recurring role on Lost.

Apparently she had already signed on to be in a few episodes of Heroes this season, playing a character named Elle, who ties into the Peter/Claire/Mr. Bennet story somehow.  Breaking news article from TV Guide Online:

I must say, the loss of her possibly being on Lost makes more sense now, as this role seems to be for a multi-episode mini-arc, but not as a full-time recurring character.  Gives her plenty of room for other film work, as well as that still-talked about spot on Broadway next winter/spring.

Heroes is not even in the same league, quality-wise, as Lost, but it does have lots of hype and recent exposure, so kudos for my girl landing a part where she'll get some face time.  My only concern is how much we may actually see of this character Elle.  Heroes is already a  big ensemble, and seems to have added almost a half-dozen new tertiary characters over the summer.

No matter for me, though - Kristen will be far and away the very best thing that has happened to that show, as I'm sure she'll make the most of what she's given.

Kristen Bell is awesome.
