Dollhouse

That's the title, so far, according to an exclusive news flash from Michael Ausiello at TV Guide, for a new hour-long weekly offering from Joss and his Mutant Enemy production team - possibly to arrive on the schedule as early as next spring.

The best part is, Eliza Dushku will star and Tim Minear's probably also on board as producer!

Kick-muthafrakkin'-ass!

The (big) potential downside is that the development deal is with FOX - the network with a history of screwing over both Joss and Tim (royally). But Joss says he's always had a good working relationship with 20th Century Fox Television (the production company behind all three of his former shows), and he and Eliza are optimistic about the FOX network's support - they've ordered at least 7 episodes, when he only had a pilot concept.

The link to the TV Guide news is HERE, but I' m gonna c/p the Ausiello article with a brief blurb about the show's wildly intriguing concept (and with Joss and Eliza quotage!) under a cut:

Needless to say, the comment thread for the news link at Whedonesque is exploding - over 230 comments as of 7:30 AM ET.

I won't get my hopes up for any long-term success, based on FOX's track-record, but any kind of Joss-developed TV news is worthy of getting excited over, at least until we see how the network responds.  The fact that Eliza has another starring vehicle is icing on the cake.

I know, I know - I'm really venturing into one-track obsessive territory here, but there is just so much mention-worthy stuff popping up about Kristen, I can't help myself.

Not to be outdone by his TV Guide cohort Matt Webb Mitovich, Michael Ausiello nabbed an exclusive Q & A with Kristen after yesterday's press release about her Heroes gig this fall.  Link to the article and comments found HERE, but I'll c/p under the cut, too:

The best part, I think:
Ausiello: Congrats on the Heroes gig! Is this some kind of evil plot of yours to send fanboys over the edge?
Bell: Absolutely! It's all part of my plan for world domination - and by world, I mean Fanboy World.

True that.

It seems this "multi-episode arc" will be at least 13 episodes - with the open-ended possiblity for more.  That's a pretty big deal.  I just pray that the writing can be cranked up a notch or two (or five) in quality, giving her character some better stuff to work with than what comprised much of season one.  Regardless, though, seeing what she can do with the role has me intrigued as hell.

And apparently, there may be a few bits regarding Kristen's thoughts on the Veronica Mars season three (not series) finale in tomorrow's spoiler-filled Ask Ausiello column.  I may or may not have stuff to add about that, too. We'll see.

Kristen Bell is awesome.

Just checked back with Ausiello at TV Guide online today, and it appears that Kristen was formally approached by show producers this week for a possible recurring role on Lost next season - but that a spokesperson has said she won't be joining the cast - rumors of her not wanting to relocate to Hawaii for an extended stay being a possible reason. The article also mentions talk of her joining the Broadway production of Legally Blonde in February, thus her not wanting to get into any long-term TV commitments.  The link to the page is HERE, but I'm also going to c/p the info under a cut:

*Sigh* I'm glad my hopes weren't up too high for this Lost development, long-shot that I thought it was.  If she legitimately was approached for (or offered) a part on the show, I may question the decision to decline - exposure doesn't get much better than that, television-wise. But, she may have had enough Hawaii for a while (being away from her boyfriend, family, and dogs) after wrapping Forgetting Sarah Marshall, and staying in the lower 48 allows her to still be on the ready for even more opportunities, I suppose.  And though I don't begrudge her wanting to do theater again, since Broadway was where she got her start performing, I will mildly *groan* just a bit over the fact that someone out there thought Legally Blonde needed a Broadway adaptation...

Here's to still being on the lookout for anything else she decides to be a part of...

According to different hopeful rumors I've read/heard the last few weeks, Kristen Bell's name kept popping up as a casting possibility for a recurring role on the upcoming season of Lost.  Of course I was interested, and while I wished something like that could be true, skepticism is the watchword on this one.

Now, TV Guide's spoiler-guru Michael Ausiello has posted some more news on this possible development.  The mention leads off his weekly Ausiello Report. Nothing is confirmed by any means, but even the remote impossible possibility is enough to make me tingly.  In the discussion thread, even fellow TV Guide editor/columnist Matt Webb Mitovich is ecstatic:

Kristen Bell? On Lost?? That'd be like someone handing you a Godiva ice cream bar just as an orgasm subsides.* Please let it be!

Beware, the above links may be spoiler-filled for many shows as you scroll.  I'll go ahead and c/p the pertinent info from the report, under a cut of course:

As I read it, the role seems to perfectly fit with who Kristen is, and seems to be something she could easily and effectively portray. Should this casting actually miraculously come to fruition, it would be the first absolutley exciting piece of new TV-related development - for me - since Veronica's shameful abandonment. And honestly, anything that enables Kristen to snag higher-profile mainstream exposure (like the upcoming Forgetting Sarah Marshall, produced by the currently red-hot Judd Apatow) is fan-frakking-tastic.  If anyone in tinseltown is worthy of superstardom, it is the immensely talented Ms. Bell.  And I'm not just saying that because I'm in love with her. I'm not... I swear...

*thinks positive thoughts*
