Heroes: 2.08 - "Four Months Ago"
Just getting on here super-quick because, for me, this was one of the best episodes of the entire series so far - for obvious reasons (Kristen is haaaaaht!) - and for the overall quality of actual character movement and story, for everyone involved. This one easily sits up there with my previous favorite of the series, "Company Man" from season one.

And really, for me to get online right after the episode ends is kind of a big deal, because this show runs so hot and cold with me.  _cinjudes_and schrutefanknow that I've continually questioned the 'potential versus execution' with this show, and tonight was one of those episodes that actually came through on the promise of thrilling storytelling the show can manage.  It's the woeful consistency that always makes me question why it's such a cult favorite. I don't xpect much anymore in the way of great development, dialogue, and continuity (like I do with Lost), so I  guess when Heroes manages to once in a while exceed those lowered expectations by leaps and bounds, it really stands out. This is short, but I'll stil cut it to avoid being spoilery.

In brief, Kristen was fan-fucking-tastic, really getting to dig into more of the sociopath (clinically diagnosed, too!) that is Elle.  My God, the sexiness combined with the insanity had me seriously hot and bothered. Elle comes off as childlike with an air of vague innocence, but then turns on a dime with that twisted look in her eye and you know she could kill you just as easily as grope you. Props to my girl for fleshing-out the so-so dialogue she was given with a wicked demeanor and physicality that carries across the danger the character possesses.

Everyone else was also interesting - even Niki and D.L., who usually drag down most of the episodes they're in.  Seeing what actually happened between them and with D.L.'s fate, made me appreciate that part of the story a bit more, so that's cool.  And David Anders as Adam has me almost as intrigued as Elle, and that's saying something.  The banter and wishy-washy lines with Hiro in the past were getting tired, so I'm glad we'll get to work through more of his story in the present.

All in all, good stuff.  And kudos to the wardrobe/costume department responsible for Elle's outfits.  Not too trashy, but revealing and *ahem* supportive in all the right places.  Brav-fucking-O!

Kristen Bell is awesome.

I'll readily admit the awesomeness to me was colored by my KBell bias. But overall I still quite enjoyed it more than any other ep this season - last week's was good, too, though. My least favorite parts of this ep. were the tacked-on Maya/Alejandro stuff. We really didn't need to see that much of her "manifestation". We get it already.

I'm just stoked to see more of the twisted manipulations Elle has to offer - since she doesn't really see herself as good or bad, just doing what she can because she can. Too bad the WGA strike will almost assuredly shorten this season, so her 13 episode appearance deal will be cut considerably, more than likely. We may only get 11 or 12 eps total, unless headway is made with negotiations, pronto - like within the next week or two.
